After speaking to many business owners, I have seen the pattern of fear. Many business owners are reluctant to try new ideas simply because of the fear of failure.
To me, that doesn’t make any sense. Just cause you fail once, it doesn’t give you permission to stop trying new things and innovating.
Dealing with clients I see the biggest problem is they hold onto and remember everytime they have failed, or when things didn’t go according to plan, and they forget all the times that it did.
All the times that they tried new ideas and it paid off.
Becoming a successful business owner starts with self-love and forgiveness. I would like to ask you to forgive yourself and let go of any negative emotion you are holding on to cause it is not serving you.
We have all made mistakes some big, some small, some costly.
Now its time to forgive yourself and move forward. Forgiving yourself doesn’t mean to forget, but what it does mean is to change the relationship between you and that memory. Rather than thinking about it and being sad, paralyzed or even angry.
Decide to learn from the mistake.
Grab a piece of paper and write down what have you learnt.
Find lessons in your failures. Write down what are you going to STOP doing so it won’t happen again, what are you gonna START doing to ensure success.
What questions are you going to ask yourself to make sure your ideas are on the right track? Who are you going to ask for advice? Do you have a mentor or a coach who is more successful than you and has achieved the results you want?
It’s ok to be nervous when it comes to innovation and trying out new ideas, its ok to take small steps forward. You definitely should ask all the questions you can think off and get advice from professionals.
But to stay the same means to fail in the long term. If you are not constantly improving your business will fail.
The above can be applied to your personal situations as well.
We work with our clients to gain clarity on what is working and what is not, what they should STOP doing, and on what activities they should double down on and do more frequently.
